From the Archives of Pueblo's La Cucaracha

San Juan
La Cucaracha - May 3, 1976

Band Members: Larry Montoya, Martin "Marto" Garcia, Bobby Montoya, and Frank Arvina

Larry Montoya was a former member of The Sting Reys, the Sunny Ozuna Orchestra, and the Rudy Guiterrez Orchestra. Martin Garcia played with the Rudy Guiterrez Orchestra (where he met Bobby and Larry Montoya, who aren't related). Frank Arvina was a former member of The Imperials.

I recently obtained a few old issues (1976-1980) of La Cucaracha, the local Pueblo newspaper, which served the Hispanic population of the city. Fantastic archival pictures of a handful of local bands, of the day. Check it out:

Henry and the Monterreys

Couldn't find much information on this group, minus the fact that Henry Gonzales was the leader, and they often played at the Red Rose Lounge (formerly the Latin Village).

Band members: Dan Abeyta, Dennis Moore, Fred Tafoya, Paul Maldonado,  Clark Romero, Chris Castro, and Leroy Tafoya

  1. Thanks for these. I remember a lot of these people, from late 1960's, The Sting Reys at the Honeybucket. Larry Montoya was a hell of keyboard player. Were that photos that bad in the newspaper?
