Hard to pick a favorite vinyl find, of 2018, but this one easily ranks up there. My thanks to the uber-talented Shepherd Stevenson (vocals, guitar and keyboard for the Aviators), for adding this fantastic Colorado record to my stash.

Thank you to all of the contributors, who have provided me with stories, pictures...and vinyl, to keep this project going. I couldn't do it, without your support. A big shout-out to Joel Scherzer, who has been there, from the beginning. In 1979, as an East High senior, I was a regular at his (now closed) Record Reunion store, in Pueblo. 40 years later, I'm now a real senior... and I'm still his customer, and his friend. What a long, strange trip it's been!
Completed my year-end goal of databasing every single song, in my Colorado collection - whew! After going through every LP, 45, and 78, I documented a grand total of 15,370 songs. Can't wait to add to the stash, in the new year!
Thank you to the readers of this blog. Your interest has kept me motivated to keep on diggin' for esoteric Colorado recordings, and the histories behind these unheard songs. In the new year, I'm going to expand the emphasis, to include even more local Colorado newspaper and ephemera music finds, plus some newly-discovered Colorado music-related stories, which surprised even me!
A huge thank you to KGNU radio, for giving me airtime to play these unknown and overlooked audible pieces of Colorado's missing music history. Thank you to all of the listeners! Stay tuned. In 2019, I'm digging deep, with shows featuring Colorado Beatles covers, Colorado women singers, and an all-Pueblo tribute - plus many other surprises!

ReplyDeleteI don't know if you are the person that wrote the page about the old Antlers Hotel and The George Marvin Trio. I attempted to submit a comment several times and it kicked me out. Since these are later posts just thought I woud give it a try. I used to work at KSSS radio in the penthouse of the old Antlers Hotel in the very late 1950s and early 1960s. After signing the station off at midnight, I would go do tothe Falcon Room and listen to the George Marvin Trio and whoever was booked as the singer for a few weeks. Great place, fabulous music and wonderful memories!
